Good Luck Is Follwoing Me
If you have been reading the blog for a while you know that I won a brand new 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier from a local car dealer a couple years ago. I had to pay tax and license fees. The car cost me $920 to drive it off the lot the day I bought it. Good luck is following me.
Our warehouse is listed in the yellow pages under SALVAGE. A strange listing for used computers and other used electronics, but at the time it seemed like the closest listing for us. We regularly get calls for people looking for a car door or bumper.
Yesterday I call another call from someone wanting a salvage yard to haul away a car. I am polite on the phone and in our conversation learned it was a running car they needed to get rid of. The couple was putting the husbands father in an assisted living home and need to empty his mobile home, take care of his other affairs and get him out of his car. Their solution was to have it hauled away.
I learned it was a running 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with the body in very good condition except for a little spot rust. I said I would take it. They were offering it for FREE, just come get it. The car is full power; seats, cruise control, power windows, tilt steering wheel, excellent velor seat covers and more. Sharon and I are now the owners of a "new" car, but not for long.
We were showing it to the guys in the business next door and one said he wanted to buy it for $650. I think it is worth closer to $1000 or more, but this is a business friend and we are passing along a good deal, and at the same time making a few dollars for our trouble.
