Lake Casitas Camping Is Great

It is a beautiful morning at Lake Casitias.  There are 400 campsites in various campgrounds around the lake.  The campground we are at is almost empty.  There is so much camping space up here away from the beach. It is warm but not hot here.

Speaking of the beach, when we left yesterday we headed to the beach instead of the campground.  It was 2-4 miles out of the way to go to the beach, so we spent the morning at the beach.  The sound of the waves is always relaxing.  A walk on the beach is always interesting.  This time there were a a few jellyfish washed up on shore.  This first one was about a foot across

This clear jellyfish was about 8 inches across

Jellyfish are interesting to see, but no fun to swim with.  They sting.  The Long Beach California aquarium has a beautiful jellyfish display.  If you enjoy aquariums, I highly recommend going there.

Sharon spotted a 6 inch piece of kelp on the beach and saw shells attached to it.  THEY ARE MOVING!  The tiny shells were smaller than a pencil eraser and had tiny barnacles moving inside.

Poky loves the beach.  It is the one place he is free to run.  Well, if  no other dogs are loose we let him loose.  There are seldom people on the beach during the week so he gets to run and have fun.  Here a wave have just retreated and Poky is standing in the wet sand.

As usual we saw dolphins, but this time they were at least 200 yards offshore, so they weren't as close-up and fun as usual.  To make up for it they were leaping completely out of the water and put on quite a show.  They were too far away to get a good picture so I didn't try.

Yes, we got the carpet cleaned and it is dry. It wasn't hot here, but hot enough to dry the carpet
