It's Raining, It's Pouring
Sharon says I was snoring. It is raining and it is pouring outside right now. I know it is coming down hard when I wake up in the night and hear the rain on the roof. Yesterday and now today were are having storm watch weather. Canyons are in flash flood watch mode especially in burn areas where we had wild fires clear the earth of moisture holding vegetation.
As I have told you before we are in a safe area. All we will get is wet. Speaking of wet, we have a wet carpet in the Bounder. Sunday we could not figure out where it came from. Yesterday Sharon saw water running down the inside wall and coming from under the window molding along its side.
When the rain eases up I will look into the window caulking around that window. It is one I caulked about a year ago. I also plan to run a length of Eternabond tape along the roof edge seam. It is possible that the water is coming in at the roof and working its way down inside the wall.
I am sold on Eternabond tape. I used it to repair the damage roof around both of our air conditioners. Electrolysis ate holes in the aluminum and the Eternabond tape covered the area instead of trying to replace the aluminum. It worked very nicely and the Eternabond patch job looks like it was professionally done.
Since we are having torrential rain, I am having Sharon go through the motorhome and touching the carpet everywhere along the edges and seeing if we have any other leaks.
If it has been raining in your area, it might be a good idea to check you RV for places that are wet inside, including the basement compartments. The sooner you find a leak, the sooner you can repair the cause and prevent problems like dry rot in the future.
