Starting To Clean Out Motorhome
Sharon has started to go through things in the Bounder. We need to clean out the motorhome. It is getting loaded up with excess stuff. Too many books we do not read, too many widgets we never use and just plain too much stuff.
They say every pound you carry cuts your gas mileage a small amount. When we are not dry camping, we only carry about 1/4 tank of fresh water. This helps with mileage. There are a lot of things in the Bounder that will not be in there on our next rally trip in two weeks.
Many full timers say they go through their RV once a year and get rid of anything they have not used in the past year. This makes a lot of sense to me. Of course some tools or seldom used important items would have to stay (in my coach), but lots of excess weight could be eliminated.
We have two full weekends before our camping weekend. Sharon and I are thinking that we might go camping at the beach on the second weekend. We are not sure yet, but it does sound like a good idea to me. The good thing about beach camping is that it is between about 15 and 25 miles from home. Close to home camping means much lower costs.
Maybe if the weather stays nice like it is today, I will wash the Bounder this weekend. It sure needs it. Washing it is not really too bad. I use a long handle automotive scrub brush, a bucket of soapy water and a hose. In the past I have scrubbed the entire coach, but I am not going to do that too often. That is really a big job. The brush and bucket does not take that long.
