Good Morning From The Beach
It is another beautiful day on the beach. The surf is calm, the sky is clear and the morning is beginning. Coffee is made in our drip Coleman Coffee maker. Sharon is just getting up and Poky is by my side on the couch as I type.
Did you notice we addd to the blog last night?
Pelicans are amazing to watch. When going places, they glide just inches above the water. When they are out of glide space they flap their wings a few time and dip back down next to the water and glide along some more. When they fish, the circle or cruise at 30 to 50 feet in the air and when they spy a fish the aim down toward the surface of the water, fold their wings into their sides and dive straight into the water hoping to scoop up the fish in their huge pouched bill. They make a big splash when they hit the water.
Often you see a sea gull following a pelican in hopes of stealing a fish from the pelican. When the pelican dives, the seagull lands right beside the pelican. Nature is interesting. Theft is a common way of earning a living for wild creatures too.
Even Poky likes the beach. He gets very excited any time we ask him if he wants to go to the BEACH. As you can see below he leads a dogs life in he truest sense of the word.
