4 Days Until Camping
WOW! Only 4 days until camping again. The rally is for two nights, but we will stay an extra night. We will leave by 8 a.m. Thursday and return sometime late Sunday afternoon or evening.
Each camping trip that is a couple hundred miles away, we ad an extra day or two onto. It doesn’t make sense to go that far, burn that much gas and only stay two nights. We would stay one more day, but we just got back from another 4 day rally two weeks ago.
This rally is going to have a whole roasted pig on Saturday night. One of the guys has a large BBQ that holds an entire pig, so he is bringing it for our enjoyment. Friday night we are having corned beef and cabbage in honor of the Saint Patrick’s Day “season”.
Sharon bought a shamrock plant in a six in pot for the motorhome. It looks pretty sitting on the kitchen counter. When we travel, Sharon puts the plants from the dinette and counter in the sink to keep them from tipping.
I am printing up our check list of things we take camping right after I finish the blog this morning. Since we only have 4 days including today, I guess I better get started in the countdown. OK, I was thinking about it, so I just printed it.
You may wonder how I am doing with exercise and weight loss. I am still exercising. Last month I missed eleven days of exercising, but 6 of those days we were camping. As for weight loss, I am still up and down in the 210 to 215 area. What really is hard to get past is the ALL YOU CAN EAT potlucks at rallies and eating out.
When we went to the 7 a.m. Harbor Freight parking lot sale yesterday, we finished before other stores in the area were open, so we had an hour to kill. We went to Home Depot (mega hardware store) and still had time to kill. I hadn’t had coffee yet, so we went to Taco Bell and had a breakfast meal. I already had my light Cherrios breakfast earlier.
I think that eating out is my biggest downfall in losing weight. I may just have to actually go on some type of diet instead of just trying to cut back and eat salads for lunch. I have been doing this exercise and cut back eating program for10 months now. If nothing else, I am getting exercise that I never go before. This builds my health and stamina. I am eating more salads, more chicken and fish and getting what I eat at home more under control.
Snack foods are still a problem. I eat too many crackers, potato chips and other junk food. One good thing we have cut sweets down to a minimum. Not much candy and more and Sharon seldom bakes pies, cakes and cookies. We almost never have ice cream. Even if I haven’t lost the weight I wanted to by now, I am doing healthier things than I had in the past.
