Procrastination, Inertia and Focus
A while ago I received an email telling me I talk of procrastination too much. OK, when you receive an email like that it first targets your ego. Then it makes you think, and finally it sinks in. So, first I want to say THANK YOU for that email.
Motivations books and speakers say that what you focus on most of the time of what you will get. I guess what I need to focus on is procrastinating on not procrastinating. I guess it all deals with inertia. If I get myself going in the right direction, inertia will keep me going in that direction.
Having thought on the email a while, I have been taking care of motorhome things that needed to get done. Doing them instead of putting them off “just a little longer”.
Speaking of motorhome, at this time tomorrow, it will be heading up Pacific Coast Highway to Pismo Beach for the weekend. We will go down our checklist and make sure we have everything packed and then between 7 and 8 tomorrow head on out.
Our first stop tomorrow will be for propane. We are not as low as normal for a refill, but at about 1/2 we might as well top it off since we will be driving within a block of the place we get it.
You know I am exercising daily and have been since last May 1. I have lost 20 pounds and have been stuck at 20 for a few months. HOWEVER, since I exercise daily I am getting stronger. Exercise that was hard to do 30 reps with 7 pound dumbbells is now easy to do 70 reps with 10 pound dumbbells.
Last night I did something I haven’t done in a long time. The kids can stay in the room, it is not that. I did pushups. I was able to do 10 full pushups and then this morning after weight exercises I was able to do 8 more. I think I will add pushups to my exercise routine.
I hope some of you have gotten the bug and joined me in exercising regularly. If not exercise bikes and weights, at least walking daily. I don’t know what it is, but since I have been exercising the aches in my back, my knees and even joints in my hands seldom ache. Actually almost NEVER ache. I wonder if exercise creates a natural chemical in our body that helps heal problems.
