Mar 26, '05 Excitement Over -- Back To Work

OK, the excitement of this past week is over. We have met new friends and helped document the grounding of Brigantine Irving Johnson. It is time to get back to work. We did not get anything accomplished since Monday when the ship ran aground.

It is only two weeks until the San Dimas Rally. I need to finish washing the motorhome. I want to get the starting problem solved. I am beginning to think it is a dead spot in the starter motor. The symptoms lean that way. I really need to write more of my planned articles for RV Living Magazine.

So, with a little discipline and hard work, I should be back on track and doing the every day routine things. HOWEVER, it is nice to be able to be distracted by other things in life and feel I have the time to be distracted. We do not make money when we take off. Being in business for yourself means no paid sick time and no vacation hours to use. You take off, you do not get paid. Simple as that.

Because we are, "RV Living Magazine", I think I will look into what it takes to get press passes. It would be lot easier to cover events such as this ship's grounding if we had better access. Most of the time we were back with crowd taking pictures from a distance. As work progressed they moved the yellow tape farther back so pictures were even harder to get. The reason we ended up on the beach with the crew and workers is because I had offered all of my pictures to crew. At the time I did not think about it, but a day later I asked to be permitted on the beach and they said, "Yes". It makes a big difference. Of course I could spend a few thousand dollars on cameras and BIG telephoto lenses, but this business is not paying that much yet.
